Independent and hard-working self-starters shine in sales positions, whether they work at home or in an office. Sales cuts across every industry, so experience in the industry in which you are working is important for success and should guide your hunt for at-home positions.
This list does not include direct selling opportunities—Avon, for example—because those are home businesses.
01. American Express

02. Aon
Aon is a large global insurance and consulting company that offers telecommuting positions including many in sales and business development. Look for work-from-positions at the company's sales site and search for "virtual" positions if none are listed under the Featured Jobs section.
03. Convergys
Home-based call center agents for Convergys provide sales, customer service or technical support service to customers who call in. Part-time employees work 25 to 30 hours per week; full-time workers work 40 hours per week. All employees receive paid training and benefits. 04. Cruise.com
Cruise.com hires home-based sales agents to sell cruises and travel insurance. Only applicants with two years of cruise experience need apply. Phone interviews are scheduled after a successful applicant's resume is examined. Once employed, applicants go through a four-week paid online training course. The position offers base pay plus commission.
05. Extended Presence
Extended Presence provides business-to-business phone sales for clients. Agents do cold calling and appointment setting and are paid an hourly base plus incentives. This Denver-based company hires work-from-home employees nationwide. Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.
06. First Data
First Data is a financial transaction processing company that hires B2B sales professionals and account executives to work from home. The company's multi-tier compensation structure includes a base salary, commissions, residuals, bonuses and expense reimbursement.
07. FlashBanc
FlashBanc hires work-from-home account executives to sell credit card services and equipment to business owners. They earn commissions and residuals in this position, rather than a salary. The position requires some face-to-face contact with prospective clients. FlashBanc includes a personalized website, training and qualified leads.
08. The Hartford
This large insurance company offers work-at-home opportunities for many types of positions including sales. The company's job listings include a Remote Worker Option category. Many of these jobs include extensive travel. Experience in the insurance industry is preferred.
09. HSN.com
The Home Shopping Network offers work-at-home jobs in sales and customer service. Openings are available only in 13 cities in California, Florida, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia. Part-time HSN agents receive a base rate per hour and incentive opportunities. Full-time positions require a 40-hour per week commitment.
10. inContact
InContact develops software for companies that use home call center agents. It has a significant remote workforce in fields that include sales, network operations and software development in the U.S., Canada and other parts of the world.
11. Intrep
Intrep provides sales personnel for its clients. Sales consultants generally do B2B appointment setting. The company seeks high achievers who are self-motivated. They must have an extensive sales and marketing background and be comfortable setting appointments with prospects of any level, including CFOs, CIOs, and CEOs. Interested applicants are instructed to upload a resume.
12. LiveOps
This outsourcing company hires experienced independent contractors as virtual call center agents for insurance sales, customer service, insurance claims, roadside service and inbound sales. Depending on the type of call, agents are paid based on minutes of talk time or minutes plus commission. Some work solely on commission. Agents go through unpaid certification to work for individual clients, and they pay for their background check. 13. PayJunction
Offering paperless transactions in the merchant service industry, PayJunction's remote jobs include outside sales in B2B software. Prior sales experience is required. Prior B2B sales experience is a plus. Applicants must be able to give in-person demonstrations. Optional training webinars are available daily and weekly.
14. Salesforce.com
Salesforce.com is a customer relationship management (CRM) software firm specializing in social, mobile and cloud technologies. The company hires work-at-home positions across several divisions including many sales positions.
15. Support.com
Most of Support.com's work-from-positions are in technology services to consumers and small businesses. However, the company sometimes has work-at-home openings for sales managers in the U. S.
16. Sykes
At Sykes, remote employees take inbound calls, which are both sales call and customer service calls. They are paid for training, but applicants who are offered a position must pay for a background check. The hiring process for these sales jobs is online and by phone. 17. USA Translations
A Santa Monica, California, company, USA Translations is a full-service international translation and interpretation company that provides services in more than 100 languages. The company hires independent contractors anywhere in the world. Self-motivated, high achievers can qualify for a work-from-home sales affiliate position selling the company's translation and interpretation services.
18. Working Solutions
Working Solutions has been hiring home-based workers for its outsourcing company for more than two decades. Sales and service projects include enrollments, retail sales, hospitality reservations and dedicated account support. Interested applicants apply and take assessments online. Acceptance or rejection can take up to two weeks. Following acceptance, contracts view a video and review current opportunities for which they are qualified.
19. Windy City Call Centers
Windy City Call Centers has telemarketing jobs for work-at-home agents. The work is not cold calling or high-pressure sales. Agents are employees, not independent contractors.
